Does anybody know if GT780DX will support more than 8Gb of Ram?

I have read that only two of four slots will work with i5 CPU,

so 2slots*4GB=max?

I also wanted to upgrade RAM, but it seems there is no chance to do it

Nope, all four slots should work (2 memory channels, therefore 4 slots in dual-channel). Also, 16GB is confirmed to work with an i5, not sure about 32GB though.

Only 2 slots work with i5, it's 1333mhz but you can put two 8gb RAMs in those two.

If you upgrade to a i7 you can use all 4 slots up to 32gb 1600mhz,

Just did some searching because I was in doubt and you're absolutely correct. Wow, well time to digest the fine print:

It supports a maximum of one unbuffered non-ECC DDR3 DIMM per-channel

Haha, only one DIMM per channel, not the standard two (found in i7's). Nice call.

Thanks for clarifying. It is very sad that there is no information about such limitations on ofiicial MSI site (or I did not find it).

I bought GT780DX, and wanted to upgrade it with additional memory in free slots.

Will try 2*8GB

Did anybody upgraded to I7? How much will cost such upgrade?

It's really easy to do yourself.

Here's a list of the quad core i7s for laptops:

Stock Turbo Watt

Core i7-2960XM 2.7 Ghz 3.7 Ghz 55

Core i7-2920XM 2.5 Ghz 3.5 Ghz 55

Core i7-2820QM 2.3 Ghz 3.4 Ghz 45

Core i7-2720QM 2.2 Ghz 3.3 Ghz 45

Core i7-2635QM 2.0 Ghz 2.9 Ghz 45

Core i7-2630QM 2.0 Ghz 2.9 Ghz 45

You can find the one you want on ebay, there's both brand new and used.

I've read a guy's comment in different forum saying you wouldn't get the benefit of 1600MHz RAM on 2630QM. Is that true?

Is it still possible to get the benefit of 1600MHz RAM in 2630QM?

**I'm currently using 2630QM and not planning on upgrade because AFAIK it's better upgrading the GPU than CPU.

(I've been planning to upgrade my MS1761 GPU from GTX570M to 7970M rather than 2630QM to 2760QM etc)

It's true because the Cpu only supports a max of 1333 MHz. See here for further details: http://ark.intel.com/products/52219

Yes its true and I agree with Brian about it.

Does anybody here tried a memory with 1600mhz DDR3 memory on a GT780DX that did work? I just want to know if it did work on the 2630qm processor :)

I've found a thread in other forum that is interesting. People who know that I7 2670QM/2630QM works with 1600 RAM at full speed HELP! Screenshots appreciate!

I OC'ed stock 4Gb ram module to 1600, and it works fine. Gonna check 2x4Gb Corsair Vengeance on 1600 tomorrow.

GT780dx, i5 2450m.

How did you overclock your ram?

What software do you use?

I got 1400MHz just because I increased the BCLK.

It's in custom bios on Advanced page. Memory frequency: Auto, 1067, 1333, 1600, 1867, 2133.

Today I bought Corsair Vengeance RAM 2x4Gb. It works fine on 1600Mhz out of box. Tried to run it on 1867, but failed. As well as raise bclk over 102. Now RAM are stable on 1628Mhz.
