Lenovo IdeaPad U260

With a base price of $899, no backlit keyboard option, a max of 4hour battery life on its 4-cell battery and no mention of LED on it's 12.5″ HD screen (1366×768), 16:9 widescreen one may question what kind of deal they'd be getting. What Lenovo's IdeaPad does have going for itself is one sleek looking system and a proffessional feel that employs an active protection system designed to protect the hard drive against accidental drops, and the keyboard is spill resistant. This system doesn't have a flimsy feeling build to it. Weighing in at 3lbs, utilizing up to Intel Core i7-680UM, Intel QS57 Express Chipset, 4gb DDR3 @ 1066mhz, Intel HD graphics with up to a 320GB hard drive. The basics are included too such as 3megapixel web cam, 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi, 10/100/1000M LAN, Bluetooth, VGA, HDMI, Mini PCI with Dolby Advanced Audio. Suprisingly there will be only 2 usb 2.0 ports. This one may be a hard sell because of the fact that we are seeing similar systems around same budget with bigger better screens, discrete graphics and 8+ hours of battery life. Read about it here!

lol... Thinkpad X220 (with specs/build quality that are literally light years ahead) starts at the same base price. Why in the love of god would one chose this one, is beyond me. :) I guess it has better speakers ^^

Also, there are Macbooks for about the same price for people who like "sleek".

And the funniest part - it costs $42 (yes, forty two dollars) to upgrade the regular 12.5" panel to IPS. :)

On the other hand, Dell Precision M6600 should eventually be available with a 17.3" IPS with RGB LED backlighting.
