ianmclay Posted November 29, 2015 Share Posted November 29, 2015 Hi, I'm new here so please be gentle haha. I recently bought an Alienware M17X R4 from Ebay. It has Intel graphics built into the I7 and a seperate GTX 660M. I am looking to upgrade the gtx 660m to a 3gb or 4gb compatible card. However, when I took it into a local computer shop, the guy said that the BIOS would need changing if I wanted to upgrade the GPU and he doesn't do BIOS. I was just wondering if there are any 3/4gb graphics cards that could easily replace the 660m without the need for a BIOS change? runix18 Posted January 20, 2016 Share Posted January 20, 2016 (edited) U can go as high as a 980m in the r4 but i would recommend a gtx780m (best power for the buck / 980m still to expensive in my opinion) Should not require a unlocked bios upgrade but you will need moded inf drivers.
