In this thread you can post your results only, if you have any questions or comments please check this thread

In order to post your results you have to follow these steps:

For the CPU

 • Set the power plan to performance
 • Deactivate the screensaver and set the display not to turn off
 • Power off the laptop and wait for 5 minutes
 • Power on the laptop and let it idle for 10 minutes making sure that no updates are running and with the monitoring programs being in the background
 • Record idle temperatures and take screenshots
 • With the monitoring programs minimized and running in the background, run wPrime v1.55 1024M (ie for the i7-940XM the number of threads used must be 8)
 • Record maximum temperatures and take screenshots
 • Take pictures of the CPU and heatsink with the previous thermal compound
 • Apply ICD 24 and take pictures of the application method
 • In order to break in the new thermal compound power on the laptop and run wPrime two times in a row with the same settings as before
 • Power off the laptop and wait for 5 min
 • Repeat those 2 steps twice
 • Power on the laptop and let it idle for 10 minutes making sure that no updates are running and with the monitoring programs being in the background
 • Record idle temperatures and take screenshots
 • With the monitoring programs minimized and running in the background, run wPrime v1.55 1024M (same settings as before)
 • Record maximum temperatures and take screenshots
 • Take pictures of the CPU and heatsink with ICD 24
For the GPU The steps are similar to those of the CPU but instead of wPrime use FurMark (Multi-GPU if you have dual graphics card) and let it run for 7 min in order to measure maximum temperatures.

In your post you need to provide 2 screenshots, 2 fotos for the CPU, 2 for the GPU#1, 2 for the GPU #2 (if applicable) and 1 table. Copy the table below and use it on your own post by adding your results. (at first you wont see the borders of the table, so submit the post and then edit it)

So, took a while, but I finally came around to do some testing. I have the Nvidia GTX 260m in the system at the moment, needed to remove the 6970m to do some measuring on the card to do some measuring before I do the voltmod. CPU and GPU were both on stock clocks, room temperature was 26°C.

ICD24 isn't as easy to apply as MX-4, but temps did indeed go down a couple of degrees. When I put back the 6970m I'll see whether how good my pasting job was, but according to the temps it should be fine.

Edit:

Here's the spread of the IC Diamond on the CPU and heatsink:

When I last pasted roughly 2 months ago (with mx-4) temps were maxing out at 82. Since then, I've run about 20ish 20+ hour renders...looks like the load toasted the paste fairly quickly. Above MX-4 max temps incurred 82.5% CMOD (while plugged in)

(Just realized that I forgot to upload pics of old paste + ICD process....so tired....will do it tomorrow night. Apologies for the half-assed post)

ICD24 - I felt like I was applying almost double what I would normally....used recommended volume. Edited by kune
