17" MSI GE70 + GTX970@4Gbps+c-mPCIe2 (EXP GDC Beast) + Win7 [jezkovivoci]

So, today the last part arrived - egpu adapter. Everything was fine. Just there was the error code 12. I did DSDT override as is described in http://forum.techinferno.com/diy-e-gpu-projects/3539-guide-dsdt-override-simultaneous-igpu-dgpu-egpu.html . At first I was like hmmm when realized that in my DSDT is already the QWord.. function, so was experiencing with editing it by guide. But always was getting the BSOD. If I've changed only values of function and let the last row of function intact I could start Win7 (1 error, 8 warnings while building dsdt - probably the working one for me). Checked "large memory" and PCI bus was there - I don't know if it was there before. Maybe yes just with lower value of allocated memory due QWord.. had predefined lower values. But still I had error 12. So then I tried another DSDT override with which even windows repair tool couldn't fix the startup problem [bSOD]. Had to replace system32/config files with backup (RegBackup folder) manualy. Which saved me from plain install of Win7. And only after that I found out that something like "endpoint" exists in 1.3 setup. Had to change it from 3.8x GB to 5x.xx GB. And that I have to change eGPU port to GEN2. Tamdadadaaa it works! So don't be dump... check all settings at first.

Worked for me:

1. Boot into 1.3 setup

2. Endpoint set to 5x.xx GB from default 3.8x GB

2. Set port with eGPU to GEN2

3. Ignore dGPU

4. Compaction iGPU + eGPU

5. Disable dGPU

6. Chainload - test run (MBR not MBR2) to Win

Specs:

Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit

MSI GE70 0ND - i7 3630qm / 8gb ram / GTX660m

EXP GDC Beast mPCIe (1.2opt?)

Gigabyte GTX 970 G1 rev 1.1

Corsair CX430M

I don't have any external LCD(no room yet for any, but I will try get one for testing purpose) and did 3dmark11 as first shot without any overclock, just to make sure it works:

Internal LCD:

3DMark11: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970 video card benchmark result - Intel Core i7-3630QM, MSI GE70 (10953 points) (+150 core, + 200 memory = 11567)

Comparing to UncleJam's results (10886) I assume that this is quite good. Or?

Hotpluging doesn't work - it turns display to dark or white and stucks. Another thing - Is it normal, maybe with EXP GDC, that when I power up notebook while mPCI is plugged in -> PSU and eGPU starts also but then everything turn off for about 4 seconds and starts again normaly?

The egpu was probably trying to contact E.T. while 3dmark was running...

iGPU + dGPU + eGPU Update:

I'm still getting BSOD (some nvidia file/ driver yell it right after Win logo disappear and Win desktop is about to load) when the dGPU and eGPU driver is installed. Will try to not install via nvidia setup for each gpu(it overwrites dgpu/egpu) but via windows driver update. For now I have eGPU disabled, uninstalled and dGPU - gtx 660m works great on gtx 970 drivers. Though it will yell some error or something. Might be due I let Win7 to install drivers for both gpus. Just can't run them simultaneously at once. Will give few more tries, then I will leave it as it is.

Update: I'm without 3in1 but iGPU + dGPU and iGPU + eGPU with booting from file works great.

Graphic card was sent back due coil whine.
