Hey guys, sorry by advance if my language is not perfect.

I upgrade 880m in my MX17 R4 last night.I follow the steps to fix the inf and install the drivers. Every time I run install program, i can only install the driver but not the Geforce experience and Phyx.

When I ran 3dmark11 test. the result is very bad. I test many drivers include 344.11 337.88 and 332.25(from eurocom) same issue happens.

Currently I use 240v adapter(ga240pe1-00) bios version:80.04.e9.00.02

Can anyone help me???

Did you disable IGP and set display to PEG? (unlocked BIOS)

Check thermal pad placement, all key components should be properly covered. Identical issue http://forum.techinferno.com/alienware/6705-gtx-880m-8go-m17x-r4-120hz-3d-screen-problem-5.html#post91918

Your last option is to return the card and get a 780M as replacement or even a 980M (when available) for all the trouble :)...pushing. The problem with the 880M/119W is that most laptops barely handle 100W TDP due to badly/outdated designed gpu cooling (not AW). Nevertheless nvidia rebrands (yet again) GK104 117W-120W TDP, crippling/ 'protecting' the card no matter what (alienware gpu cooling) for the obvious/wrongful reasons. 'Maxwell is coming' so why bother. Dirty business.

Nvidia crippling the gtx 880ms with there new drivers (look for a nvidia response

@GD9053 follow this, sharing the same installation procedure 780M/880M.

Hi @cravenbeer, welcome to T|I.

M17xR4 GTX 780M installation (Windows 7 skip step 2 and 4).

- First flash stock A11 BIOS (disable secure boot and set legacy boot instead) then follow method 2 (FPT), A11 unlocked BIOS http://forum.techinferno.com/alienware-m17x-aw-17/1964-%5Bm17x-r4%5D-unlocked-bios-versions.html (with the 3D model you can skip this step since PEG is the default configuration, still I recommend flashing for further tweaking)

Thermal Pad Placement - Fujipoly Extreme System Builder Thermal Pad - Sheet - 150 x 100 x 0.5 - Thermal Conductivity 11.0 W/mK

Verify that the card is properly seated https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6vEk_ZFAzLI#t=3m51s

1) BIOS settings, F2 -> disable the integrated graphics - Second Advanced Menu -> Video Configuration -> disable IGP -> set display to PEG -> F10 reboot.

2) Win8/8.1, disable driver signing

.1 -Open command prompt (Admin) windows key + X

.2 -Type "bcdedit /set {current} testsigning yes" (without quotes) enter.

.3 -"The operation concluded successfully"

.4 -Type exit> reboot.

3) Driver installation.

Download GeForce 344.11 WHQL

.1 -Extract using 7-zip/winrar

.2 -Display.Driver folder -> copy/overwrite nvdmi.inf.

.3 -Nvidia...International folder\ run setup exe.

.4 -Select custom install -> Check clean install option.

.5 -Reboot.

nvdmni.inf (unzip) nvdmi.inf v344.11

4) Exit test mode

.1 -Command prompt (Admin).

.2 -Type "bcdedit /set {current} testsigning no" enter.

.3 -Type exit -> reboot.

thanks for reply !!!

I disable IGP and set display to PEG but still same problem, the GPU core clock can't exceed 135mhz when I run benchmark and tests.

Have you read the whole thread?

Run DDU / Safe Mode

Rearrange the thermal pads correctly (135MHz), install this driver for testing purpose GeForce 327.23 WHQL

Then install v337.88 http://forum.techinferno.com/nvidia/6307-%5Balienware%5D-aftermarket-upgrades-driver-support-modded-inf.html#post93411

I install v337.88 with your modded INF and set peg only in bios but still same issue ...the GPU core clock can't exceed 135mhz. Is unlock vbios help?

Look like 880m can't use in my MX17R4, Is this because I use 3720qm and c216 chipset?

After I disable my on board graphic card, the score didn't change. But, I find out that my benchmark score is even better with out PSU !!!

I'm using the 327.23 driver and this is the best driver I can find.
