675M to 780M

Recommended Posts

Hi Everyone,

I'm new to this forum and i had some question regarding the 780m.

I just bought a 780M on notebookreview and i want to know if the heat sink on my GTX 675m fit on a 780M.

The new 780 came with the xbracket already.

Also what is the thickness of the thermal pad i have to put on the board? I bought 1mm 10cm x 10cm will i have enough?.

Thanks for your help.

Hi, follow this:

R4 BIOS settings -> Secure Boot disabled -> Legacy Mode enabled.

- Download A11 Driver Details | Dell US

- Connect the power cord -> Run as Administrator M17R4A11WIN64

- Unlocked A11 BIOS flash, Method 2 (FPT) Bootable USB stick/DOS (files included) http://forum.techinferno.com/alienware-m17x-aw-17/1964-%5Bm17x-r4%5D-unlocked-bios-versions.html

- A11 Unlocked BIOS -> Advanced Menu ->Disable IGP (Integrated Graphics) ->Set Display to PEG ->F10 save&exit.

Tech|Inferno Forums Rules

The 675m heat sink is fine, 1 mm instead of a 0.5 mm/pad.

3D model install v337.88 (v340.43/340.52 120Hz screen bug),

GeForce 337.88 WHQL

nvdmi.inf v337.88

GeForce 340.52 WHQL

nvdmi.inf v340.52

- Win8 -> disable driver signing.

- Extract driver w/ 7-Zip/winrar

- Display.Driver folder -> copy/overwrite nvdmi.nf

- Extracted Nvidia 3xx.xx...International\ run setup.exe.

J95,

After installing everything the card runs fine but on GPU Z i see a lot of Core clock and memory clock spiking.

I'm currently playing Archeage and the game vary between 90 FPS and 22fps. Without even moving thru the game.

Also every +- minute the game slow down for 3 second . everytime it happen i see a spike in GPU z.

Any idea what would cause this?

Gaming temps?

Try flashing 780M 'OC edition' - rev02. Throttling & GPU boost removed, fully unlocked (donate :Banane35:) http://forum.techinferno.com/general-notebook-discussions/1847-nvidia-kepler-vbios-mods-overclocking-editions-modified-clocks-voltage-tweaks.html#post23432

Flash, DOS method (bootable USB) http://forum.techinferno.com/nvidia-video-cards/2166-%5Bguide%5D-nvidia-vbios-flashing.html

Rename "Nvidia GTX 780m - 'OC edition' - rev02" to "780m.rom"

Backup first (unique Kepler Id)

nvflash.exe -b backup.rom

Flash

nvflash.exe -6 780m.rom

Type 'y' twice when requested.

"Flash successful" -> Ctrl+Alt+Del

Alright Playing archeage at high give me +- 70 fps.

After 5-8 min of gaming i'm getting a black screen and i have to reboot.

Gaming temp never went over 76 Degree Celcius. Any idea of what might happen?

@J95

Thermal Pads seems fine,

240W psu

My 675M crashed on everything not just archeage. Even youtube could make it crash.

16 Gb Ram

i7 3610

1tb Hard drive in Raid0

Gtx 780M

M17x R4

Actually now i play archeage at medium with 140+ Fps and it's fine.

It might be a game related problem./ DX11. The game is still in beta testing.

Before changing the Vbios the game would spike in fps and getting some slow randomly.

Now with the vbios it just black screen or White screen on ultra high after 5 to 10 min. ( ultra high I'm still getting 60+Fps )
