HOW TO INSTALL USING UPDATED INF FILE

1. DOWNLOAD DRIVER FROM NVIDIA.

2. RUN THE DRIVER AND IT WILL EXTRACT (BY DEFAULT) TO

C:\NVIDIA\DisplayDriver\275.33\Vista 64-bit\International

INSTALL WILL FAIL.. IT'S OK!

3. DOWNLOAD THE INF FILE FORM THE LINK ABOVE.

4. COPY THE INF FILE INTO C:\NVIDIA\DisplayDriver\275.33\Vista 64-bit\International\Display.Driver

5. RUN THE SETUP IN C:\NVIDIA\DisplayDriver\275.33\Vista 64-bit\International

6. CHOOSE CUSTOM INSTALL AND DESELECT THE 3DDRIVER AND 3DCONTROLLER AS WE DONT NEED IT.

7. INSTALL AND HAVE FUN!

The Release 275 beta driver v275.27 can cause significant performance drop in The Witcher 2. This issue has been resolved in v275.33 drivers. Please read this FAQ for more information on this issue.

Increases performance for GeForce 400 Series and 500 Series GPUs in several PC games vs. v270.61 WHQL drivers. The following are some examples of improvements measured on Windows 7. Results will vary depending on your GPU and system configuration:

GeForce GTX 580:

Up to 4% in Crysis 2

Up to 5% in Civilization V with SLI

Up to 9% in Portal 2

Up to 13% in Bulletstorm with Antialiasing enabled

Up to 15% in Batman: Arkham Asylum with PhysX High

GeForce GTX 560:

When you install a Release 270 or later GeForce driver from Welcome to NVIDIA - World Leader in Visual Computing Technologies, you will be presented with the option to install NVIDIA Update. Desktop Scaling

New NVIDIA Control Panel user interface for configuring desktop scaling, including new preview window.

Now consistently available for all displays (including VGA and HDMI connections).

New scaling override option for Windows 7 gaming.

Improved desktop resizing user interface that guides the user to disable overscanning using their HDTV controls and also provides a fallback option to enable desktop resizing via the NVIDIA Control panel.

NVIDIA desktop resizing now creates a custom, resized resolution with 1:1 pixel mapping and resizes standard resolutions for games that don’t support custom resolutions.

after a few hours i cannot see a positive diffrence in my games. (BF:BC2, L4D2, GTA4/EFLC/Cry2)

although GTA: EFLC does seem to dip below 24FPS withe the .33 as opposed to never going below 27FPS with .25

Hi StevenX, m back with another noobish question for you i just received my m14x... boy, this thing does pack a punch in looks as well as performance!

I downloaded the latest drivers for the GT555M from the GeForce site... n i think, i ended up with the same one from the nvidia site (275.33). Am sure this must have been answered before somewhere, but kindly tell me, what happens if i dont follow the steps you have mentioned above? I have heard things about the drivers not being compatible for the M14x, but I do not seem to be having any problems as of now. Will this have any detrimental or adverse effect on the GPU??

@gladiator - Depends on whether the driver you downloaded has the updates necessary to install with optimess support. If you performed a clean install and it applied then I guess your ok. If it failed you would have received an error message most likely. Congrats on your m14x.

I see. Didnt receive any error as such. The setup ran fine without any problems and finished all well. Might i ask what u mean by clean install?? are u referring to a clean install of the OS and system as a whole or just the driver?

no he means a clean install. a clean install involves removing the old driver and then removing any remnants of said driver before installing the new one. many people use driver sweeper to preform a clean install.
